Desktop App
What the Desktop App Does
Section titled “What the Desktop App Does”The desktop app is the primary daily surface for Aegis on your computer. It should help you:
- Start, stop, install, update, and inspect Aegis Core.
- See Core health, profile, ports, runtime paths, logs, storage, and tokens.
- Manage Local Gateway and Native Node readiness.
- Use Chat with sessions and evidence-aware replies.
- Inspect Workbench, approvals, devices, memory, and settings.
- Generate mobile pairing links or QR codes.
Desktop Chat is the natural-language action surface. It is not a simple question-answer box. Chat should show:
- Streaming replies.
- Markdown final rendering.
- Multiple sessions.
- Tool and task status rows.
- Approval status.
- Evidence links.
Platform Notes
Section titled “Platform Notes”| Platform | Current public-user expectation |
|---|---|
| macOS | Runtime-verified in source/dev evidence for Core management, Chat, Workbench, Local Gateway, native node work, and visual shell. |
| Windows | Source-ready and build-verified for the native app. Full Windows host runtime validation still needs a Windows environment. |
The public installer path is native desktop packages: macOS DMG and the verified Windows ZIP package now, with MSIX or enterprise installer variants only when release CI emits signed assets.
